Volunteers
A profound Thankyou to all our
volunteers for their efforts to make our Bookshop a success.
We had not expected to achieve breakeven with our
costs as quickly as we have and it is entirely due to the support so
cheerfully given by our volunteers. We have even made our first
donation to Hurstville Boys High School for a special program
for students. We are now embarking on the next stage of the development
of the Mulga Road Bookshop and we need to build a bigger
list of volunteers with more skills to improve our promotion through
the shop and on the Internet.
If you live locally and are interested in providing support for
charitable activities there are numerous opportunities available to
you.
We wish to staff the shop for normal business hours operation
and if you can spare a morning or an afternoon then please contact us
by phone or email or simply pay us a visit in the shop.
Activities are varied but include:
Receipt of and sorting books into various categories for placement on
the shelves.
Organisation and presentation of books for sale displays.
Sales of books to customers using a simple data entry into the
computer.
e-Bay sales for collectibles and specialist books.
Establishing a Book Club
Writing articles for our newsletter and assisting our Editor.
Web site skills for HTML, PHP, Internet Marketing.
Graphics design for our Websites.
If you are interested in doing something for the benefit of others,
whether they be in our local community, our national community or
international community then you can assist us in some way to raise
funds for distribution to those in need.
Besides the bookshop, which is our permanent outlet, we also prepare
books, comics and collectibles for sale on e-Bay and will periodically
run book fairs as we have in the past. Preparation for Book Fairs will
require selecting a range of books for sale at these events and
organising them for transport and presentation at the Fair.
Indigenous
Community Volunteers Project
We have offered to assist this project with the supply of books on
educational and business material as a donation in kind, which provides support
for educational and small business projects in Indigenous Communities
across Australia. If you are interested in supporting this
special program for our indigenous communities then please Contact Us
We need help for all these activities to be successful and would like
to hear from you.
